Candela Zipper Mid-Calf Boots from GILT
My beautiful All Saint’s boots took quite a beating with the crazy snow storm we had in NYC a while back and I realized that unless I got myself a second pair of boots, these wouldn’t even last one winter. So, when I spotted these dark slate zipper boots on Gilt, I knew I had to order them. While they’re clearly reminiscent of the Alexander Wang Mirte boots, they’re actually functional as they don’t have a peep toe ( or aren’t insanely long). Now, don’t get me wrong, I’d probably order those if I found them on a good sale, but still, I’m here to defend my current purchase and not any pie-in-the-sky future ones.
Also, it’s my birthday month, which means I’ll be defending a lot of purchases. See, I hate birthdays, and stuff makes me forget about the fact that I hate birthdays and I have a birthday coming up at the end of the month. I’m leaving my early twenties and entering the world of adulthood, i.e I can rent cars and stuff. Ugh and Blegh.
Bertie Copenhagen Leopard Wedge Boots
I have no self control. While shopping for Christmas presents, I ordered these for myself off of asos. I already have them in the gray color. I know I have a problem, but in my defense, they were on sale. And plus, I have a hard time finding shoes that are cute and comfortable and I’ll actually wear, and the gray ones are amazing. I had a bit of a snafu with the zipper at first, but once that was resolved, I wore them all night with no issues. Unfortunately, they probably won’t arrive till after Christmas, but I’m really contemplating wearing them with a strapless black dress on New Year’s Eve, if I don’t find something gold and sparkly. Nothing screams New Years Eve like a tacky gold dress right?
P.S. Noir Giveway results to come soon!
I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of flat military boots for the longest time, but my search has always ended in disappointment. Either I haven’t been satisfied with what I have found, or I would end up cheaping out. A while back, I saw the Damisi Military Boot on the All Saints website, but at $250 plus tax, I just didn’t feel like doling out that much cash. Plus, I hadn’t seen them in real life, and $300 on a pair of boots I’ve never seen seemed like $300 too much. Fast forward to Thanksgiving weekend, with its massive amounts of Black Friday Sales and tourists crowding the NYC subways, I was in luck. No, I didn’t go out on Black Friday, but luckily I didn’t have to. All Saints has a 25% off sale that started during Thanksgiving, allowing me to keep my sanity but still score my boots. I braved the cold and headed into the city, crossing my fingers the entire way, hoping that they would actually look good in real life and be in stock. Luckily, they were perfect and available. The boots are quite sturdy, a heavy leather with just a bit of distressing and an off black color. I’m wearing them for the first time today and they’re amazingly comfortable so far and compliment my dress beautifully. The picture below does not do them justice.

The nice thing about these boots is that although they’re military-esque, they aren’t inappropriate to wear with a dress to work (I work in a corporate office), they’re subtle.
It seems that the sale is still going on, so if you’ve been eyeing anything on the site, now would be the best time to score those items (Hello Cyber Monday!). Tell them I sent you, maybe they’ll send me a second pair in asphalt. A girl can dream!
Finally back in NYC! My business trip was wonderful but exhausting and although I’m happy to be home, this morning was torture with MTA issues, annoying commuters, and pushy tourists. I love to hate you, NYC. Anyway, Orlando was terrific, especially the Harry Potter theme park but not so terrific was sleeping about four hours a night. But sleeping is for wimps, enjoy life! Anyway, let’s get back to the blogging.
Raphael Young’s Fall/Winter 10/11.

Smitten.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the Acrobats of God AW 2010-11 lookbook in my email yesterday. The shoes for Fall/Winter are tougher than in their previous collection, but still feature the elastic bandaging we saw before. As a new brand, launched just this year, they’re doing pretty well and for good reason, their shoes are beautiful.

My favorite is the middle pair with the wooden wedge. For more info, check out their website.
