Ode to: Michael Pitt

Ever since Boardwalk Empire burst onto the scene and filled the bloody void left by a certain HBO vampire drama, I have been obsessed with Michael Pitt. Actually, I have become  re-obsessed with Michael Pitt. I first saw the baby-faced 29 year old on Dawson’s Creek as the young love interest of Michelle Williams (and yes, I did watch Dawson’s Creek, didn’t you?) Pitt has played many interesting characters, one of which is in Gus Van Sant’s Last Days where he portrays a young Kurt Cobain like character (the poster is an eerie spitting image.) Next month, Pitt graces the cover of Nylon Guys, and looks amazing. I’m loving everything about the styling, as seen in some sneak peak images from the editorial below. The clothing, the jewerly, his hair! Although I don’t usually read Nylon Guys, I’m definitely picking up a copy of their January Issue.

Ode to: La Roux

Since I’m going to see (them) in concert later tonight at Terminal 5, I thought I would give La Roux a little love. From her amazing coif to her awesome androgynous style, there’s not much about miss Elly Jackson that I can possibly dislike. Check her out below in “I’m not your toy.”

Ode To: The Queen of Louisiana

I’m having some serious True Blood withdrawals, and as ridiculous as Weeds has gotten, and as amazing as Boardwalk Empire is,  it’s not filling the void. I love the camp, the b-movie-esque vampires, the crazy storylines, the cinematography and most of all, the costumes! Let’s pay tribute to the best dressed vampire in Louisiana, The Queen of Louisiana, Sophie-Anne.

Macaulay Culkin turns 30

Happy (belated) Birthday Mac!

If you’re a longtime reader of Ode To Awe, you must know that I am completely obsessed with Macaulay Culkin. I know, it’s ridiculous and maybe a bit wierd, and the dude is barely making movies but my fascination with Mac started when I was tiny and it’s hard to let things like that go. So, it may come as a surprise that I totally missed his birthday, but really shouldn’t because I’m not like stalker obsessed and I actually have a life. Anyway, I think we really need to start petitioning Mac to make more movies and public appearances. I know it’s fun to be a reclusive turtle, but brighten my life a little with some movies, ok? And one “rumored” appearance in some military drama slated for 2011 on IMBD is not enough!

Check Mac out below partying it up in London a week ago with his brother Kiernan at the premiere of his (brother’s) movie Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. I’m digging the outfit, what do you guy’s think?

Definitely the only person in the world that can pull off the blonde/flesh colored beard.

Ode To: Harry Solomon

Growing up, my sister, brother and I were obsessed with 3rd Rock from the Sun. Many late nights, they would come home kind of drunk (I was in elementary school going on junior high, they were in college) , nuke some frozen pizza and we would sit down and watch a few episodes, somehow bonding despite our age differences. Although I loved every character, French Stewart’s portrayal of Harry Solomon was so spot on and ridiculous, you couldn’t help but kind of love him the most. What really got me though, was Harry Solomon’s amazingly 90′s wardrobe.

Seriously, he had the best 90′s style. There has been this so called “90′s revival” for a while now, but grunge wasn’t the only style going on in the 90′s.  Harry’s style really epitomized the real style of the 90′s, or at least that of the underground. It was a little grunge, a little club kid, a little skater, but mostly it was just fantastic. Maybe platform red sneakers don’t really translate into my current wardrobe, but I’m sure I can find a way to grab his essence and work with  it.

You had my heart since 1989.

Monday Morning Love!

I may have only been a tiny little thing, but I knew what was up in 1989 and that love for one Macaulay Culkin has followed me throughout my life.

My first semester of college, I plastered my laptop’s background (as well as my walls) with various pictures of Mack. I was obsessed. I would run around with butterfly wings and my bottle strawberry blonde hair screaming about my intense love for him ( usually when I hitting the sauce). Not surprisingly, people thought I was nuts. Surprisingly, they still wanted to be friends with me and would actually sit through my long and insane speeches about Mack’s greatness. Even more surprisingly, a lot of these friends were guys. I have a theory that everyone secretly loves Mack. It’s cool, let it out, we can start a crazy stalker fan club together and recreate his Terry Richardson photoshoot. Who wants to join?
