Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All at Terminal 5

OFWGKTA post show 300x225 Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All at Terminal 5 Odd Future fans trying to get backstage

Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All—aka OFWGKTA, aka Odd Future—put on one of the craziest shows I’ve ever seen. On October 19th, 2011 at Terminal 5, while the wind and rain raged outside, OFWGKTA and a mob of fans raged within.

Tyler, the Creator and Hodgy Beats kicked off the show by rapping from the second floor VIP area, then stage diving into the crowd below. As the show continued, people moshed and crowd surfed, though the moshing took down a few would-be surfers. One crowd surfer fell into a mosh pit and I was sure he’d gotten trampled to death. If you’re worried, he’s probably okay, I didn’t see any dead bodies from the 2nd floor as I was waiting for the coat check to clear out after the show.

The mosh pit basically consisted of the entire first floor. Even if you weren’t moshing, you had to kick some ass and stomp on some toes if you wanted to stay towards the front. By the way, if you’re reading this, sorry to the person I accidentally elbowed in the head. That was my bad. Also to the guys smoking a joint behind me, thanks for the contact high and thanks for not accidentally burning me.

I have to say, the show was intense, but I’ve seen worse shit happen at a No Doubt concert. I heard more talk about getting into a fight than I saw actual fighting. For the most part, OFWGKTA fans are crazy, but in a fun way, not to the point of serious violence. Just like the music, it’s loud and offensive, but it’s all in good fun.

If you want to get a feel for what the show was like, check out this video of that epic stage diving:

Since I’m going to see (them) in concert later tonight at Terminal 5, I thought I would give La Roux a little love. From her amazing coif to her awesome androgynous style, there’s not much about miss Elly Jackson that I can possibly dislike. Check her out below in “I’m not your toy.”

Love Machine: Hercules and Love Affair

Last Wednesday, I went to one of the best concerts of my entire life. Holy Ghost followed by Hercules & Love Affair followed by Hot Chip. Everything about the show was amazing, including the people I was with. We danced all night, I don’t think there was a moment where we were still. I was engulfed by the heavy smoke around me. Although we were outside, Central Park Summer Stage felt like a tiny, smoky, dark club. Although I don’t smoke, and smoke usually bothers me (not ethically or morally, but I literally start to get a headache) somehow, this night, nothing mattered. I felt great and danced my ass off and by the end of the night I was drenched in sweat as was everyone around me. Everyone left that concert with a smile on their faces. Every band was better than the last and Hot Chip absolutely killed it. However, as the post is titled, this is about Hercules & Love Affair.

The musical project, or love child as I like to think of it, of DJ Andy Butler, Hercules & Love Affair is comprised of Andy and Kim Ann Foxman, and of a rotating cast of characters. The band has a stage presence like I have never seen, it’s a mix of electro-dance-80′s-disco-underground-club-crazy-ness, it’s just perfect. Because I suck at ever bringing my camera anywhere, I am borrowing these pictures from the concert from Boom Boom Chik (Hope you don’t mind, but if you do, let me know!)

Also, since this is primarily a fashion blog (blah blah blah), let’s not forget to mention how adorable they all are and how much we love their style!

Don’t let the days go by

So Bush is back! I haven’t heard any of their new stuff yet, but I have (coincidentally) been listening to their old stuff nonstop, and lo and behold I hear they have reunited. They were one of my favorite 90′s bands, and still are one of my favorite bands in general. I can’t really listen to too many bands at one time, it’s just this thing that I do, I get obsessed with one band at a time (or re-obsessed in this case). So basically, all I’ve listened for the past month, and all I will listen to for probably at least another month, will be Bush, peppered with an odd song from another band here and there (like one other song a week, to mix it up). I don’t know why, but it’s kind of the way I am with clothes, books, movies. I get really obsessed with a pair of shoes and wear them non-stop till they’re completely worn out on the bottom. I’m trying to stop, because it’s both bad for your feet and your shoes. Anyway, enough with my compulsions, check Bush out:

Super Saturday

Let’s get the weekend rolling.

I meant to post this last night but..you know how things go.
