Winning is Nice

**Before we get into today’s post, just wanted to let you guys know that I did a guest post on my friends’ beer blog. Head over to chicksdigbeer.wordpress.com to check out my post about my favorite beer : )

But anyway, Hey guys! Remember a million years ago when I said I was having a giveaway and some of you entered, and then I didn’t post the results for a million years? Yeah, I know. In my defense, I really wanted to set the video to cool music and do all this awesome stuff, but it took a while (and didn’t really work, but that is besides the point.) Anyway, without further ado, check out the winner in the video below (or just scroll to the bottom).

And the winner is Amy C!

Congrats!

Look out for an email from me shortly.

Noir Amelia Ring Giveaway

As promised, I wanted to do a giveaway to commemorate the blog turning one (and plus it’s the holidays and whatever). I finally settled on the Noir Amelia Wrap Sword Ring in Rhodium because it’s pretty dope and special and I thought you guys would like it. This ring is brand new and shiny and beautiful and wraps till your knuckle. It’s either a size 7 or 8, so if it’s too big or small, just give it away as a gift. Isn’t that the nice thing about giveaways during the holidays?

Anyway, all you have to do to enter is either follow me on twitter, bloglovin’ or RSS and leave a comment below. If you already follow me on any of those, then you just have to leave a comment below. The giveaway will run through the week, till Sunday, December 19th. I’ll announce the winner next Monday (it will be randomly generated for fairness).

My Body is a Cage, Chris Habana

As you may have noticed, I’m definitely a fan of industrial looking jewelry, clothing, furniture, etc. In my own life, I love to juxtapose a pretty, vintage/antique look with a more dark, metal inspired one.  When I saw these pieces by  NYC based designer, Chris Habana, I was instantly intrigued. Designing since 2004, Chris makes unisex pieces that could easily fit right in with everything else in my wardrobe. His website features brass cage rings and finger braces and skulls adorning young Sid Vicious-esque punk looking boys, without the heroin addiction (I hope!) What I really like is also the price point, his pieces generally stay in the $80 to $150 range, with a few exceptions at $45 and over $300. This isn’t fine jewelry, all pieces are brass, gunmetal or copper plated, and look like they could withstand a beating. They remind me of my teenage years spent seeing shitty bands at L’amour and the temple. If you’re a 20 something and grew up in Brooklyn, I may have just blown your mind with mentions of those venues. Those were the (shitty) days.

Transvestite Part Two

In a previous post, I wrote about my new obsession with Transvestite jewerly but could not find information for the brand anywhere online. After making a brief appearance on Pixie Market (which sold out very quickly) it seemed to vanish.  I was writing fan fiction for a jewelry line that didn’t seem to exist. I searched for it, as did many of my wonderful readers, but to no avail. I always thought my internet ninja skills were black belt, but this whole situation made me doubt myself.

But did I give up! Well, yes, a little bit. But apparently, the universe did not. Guess who followed me on Twitter? That’s right, maybe I could not find them, but they sure found me!

Transvestite, established in 2005 in Japan, features Men’s and Women’s clothing and accessories. Because I am a little crazy, I translated all of their tweets and news on their website to try to figure them out a bit more. Of course, translating tweets leaves me with more questions then answers, so I leave you with some amazing pictures below instead of my rambles about how into them I am.

This is from a “test shoot” so hopefully we’ll be seeing more of their jewerly and accessories in addition to the clothing. The clothing is pretty dope though, it centers around monochromatic colors, greys and whites and blacks, with an edge. Perfect easy to wear pieces, just throw on and look ill. Looking forward to hearing more from this brand, now that it isn’t just a figment of my imagination.

p.s. I know, I was gone. Now I’m back. I’ll try to keep it consistent.

From the Machine de Terre collection, Aesa agate jewelry. If you’ve read my blog before, you know I have an affinity towards agate, but only when it’s raw and vibrant. I’m really feeling these necklaces, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re made in Brooklyn. Brooklyn love!
