Vintage Camera Bag

I have been searching for a cute camera bag for ages. After toting around my ugly nylon camera bag forever, and becoming insanely obsessed with fellow blogger Annie’s bag,  I decided to search for a similar vintage bag for my Nikon D200. After some time, I gave up my search. I couldn’t find anything I liked, and I just didn’t feel like searching anymore. But, of course, I have amazing friends and they took notice to my obsession and lo and behold, I received the most amazing vintage camera bag for my birthday. It’s the perfect cognac brown leather, sturdy enough for my camera, and big enough to also store some personal items, so when I need my camera, I don’t have to carry a camera bag and a purse.

Now I can become even more of a photography obsessed nerd in style.

Green Envy

I don’t use the term “lusting over” very much, since, well, it sounds stupid to me. But damn, if I’ve ever lusted over an inanimate object, it’s definitely these bags. I can’t tell you why I’m so enamored with them, why I desperately want them to go on a further sale so that I can afford them, why I think the green would perfectly compliment everything in my wardrobe, or why I think they are the perfect mix of Versace and Christopher Kane, but I do know this: I want, no, I need, this bag in my life. Okay, I’m going too far, but seriously, if the green one goes from $498, where it holds steady in the sale section of Opening Ceremony, to like $300 or under, I might have to splurge. Or maybe I’ll come to my senses and realize I can spend my money on better things than a $300 bag…Or maybe not. Time to start selling my stuff on ebay? Probably.

Scenes and Sounds and New York Bags

Founded in New York in 2009, Reece Hudson is a handbag collection that, as they say, “bridges the gap between luxury products and street style.” The bags have a very vintage and masculine aesthetic; the colours, shapes and textures remind me of a beautiful antique library in some old Victorian mansion (Morgan Library?). I love the way they juxtaposed masculine and feminine by having the model show some skin.

The clutch is absolutely to die for, and the cross body bag looks like a canteen, which I’m super feeling. Be sure to check out their website, they have a great playlist on it (which is a forewarning that they have music playing, but you can turn it off).

Pretty Things In The Morning

I don’t know why I’m so into this bag, but I am.

Jeepers Creepers,  Time for Spring! Time for Spring I Say!

That’s from my favorite cartoon from 1936, which was the first cartoon ever directed by Hanna Barbera. I had it on VHS and I remember watching it on repeat when I was a kiddie. Seriously, it will put you in a great Spring mood.  Watch it here.

Anyway, with it being officially Spring and all, I wanted to show you some things that I’m excited about wearing, some things that I’m excited about getting, and some things I wish I had this Spring but I’ll never be able to afford. To dream!

This Alexander Wang bag has everything I want in a bag for Spring. It’s small enough to go from day to night, which usually happens come Spring time. I get out of work so late I don’t really have time to run home, change clothes and change bags, and it’s seriously not fun to go out with a giant purse. This, on the other hand, has some perfectly placed compartments, it’s long enough to be swung across the body while you’re dancing, and the wash is fantastic for Spring. It would go with everything.

Unfortunately, this bag goes into the category of things “I’d love to own for Spring, but cannot afford”. Unless it goes on major discount, $725 is just a little too steep right now. (Anyone with a spare they don’t want, you know where to send it)

I bought a very similar version of these recently to wear this Spring. The lens is green like these, but I think my frame is more gold then yellow (or maybe they’re the same, but it’s hard to tell in this picture). Mine are absolutely huge and I love them. I was visiting a friend in Fort Lee, NJ, and we went to this amazing mall. Growing up in NYC, we don’t really have malls at all and it’s a total novelty for me. I’m not even kidding, I only get to go to a mall like once a year (at most?) but I love them. This particular mall was fantastic, filled with Louis Vuitton, Betsey Johnson, Barneys, Saks, Bloomingdales ..Seriously, it’s like a mall for the rich and famous. Crazy. Anyway, I really couldn’t afford much, but I needed a pair of sunglasses and being that Ray Ban’s are pretty affordable, I went for them. (I also tried on Carrera’s which are amazing looking and priced well, but they didn’t work that well for me.) Anyway, it took about 50 pairs before I found these, since for some weird reason every single other pair other then the pair I bought had tiny lenses. Strange! Anyway, love these. So, obviously these are in the “I’m excited to wear this Spring” category.

Shoes

Greece Flats Animal Women SHOES Surface2Air online store Theres a place Id like to go, somewhere out west These Greece Flats by Surface to Air in Animal are fantastic.   They’re adorable and judging by the bottom, super comfy to run around the city in. I could see myself getting so much use out of these.

These aren’t cheap, but I think they’re worth it. So far I’ve only seen them on the Surface to Air online shop, but hopefully I’ll see them around NYC.

If I can find these in NYC anytime soon, or maybe I’ll think about ordering them off of the site. I’m throwing them under “Things I’m excited about getting this Spring”.

I bought a few Vincent Longo lipsticks off of Hautelook a little while ago for two reasons. One being that his red lipsticks are absolutely the most fabulous, they are seriously some of the best reds. Reason two was that they were $8!! For real, $8?! Yeah, I bought 3. Red might be serious, and I know people love light colours for Spring, but I think a good red is fantastic for Spring.

Scarves

I’ve written about my love of scarves before and I’m so excited to finally be able to break them out and wear them. Of course I could have worn them this past winter, but it just seems so much more like a Spring accessory to me. I don’t own this Alexander Mcqueen scarf, however, I have a similar one with skulls that’s in a diamond shape and a little thicker, I think I prefer it. If I come into a little money somehow (lottery? rob a bank? whatevs), I’ll def. be buying another Alexander Mcqueen scarf to wear this Spring.

I’m throwing this into all categories, “I’m excited to wear this Spring” because I have one Alexander Mcqueen scarf already, “Things I’m excited about getting this Spring” because if I run into money this will be def. be purchased, and “I’d love to own for Spring, but cannot afford” because most likely I won’t be coming into extra cash.

Vests

I really love this short jean vest from Top Shop. I’m totally feeling vests in general for Spring, actually, I’m always feeling vests for any time of the year, but punk jean vests circa 1977 are perfect for Spring. A little while back I was on Rocker Repro‘s blog and saw some of the cutest jean vests as style inspiration. I’m thinking about getting this one and throwing some studs on it.
