Super sweet blogger Miha of Skinny Buddha passed the cutest blog award onto me and it couldn’t be more perfect for the crazy warm heat wave weather we are having in nyc. The award is called “The Sunshine Award.” Perfect right?
I know some people avoid blogger awards, and basically ignore them when they receive them, but I think these are really cute (although I am definitely guilty of forgetting to post some on my blog that have been passed to me, sorry! I wasn’t ignoring you!). But really, why not pass some love onto other bloggers whose blogs you are obsessed with reading? I may have a blog, but there are plenty of other blogs I read obsessively and have been reading since way before I even started my blog. I like to spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way. I hate to quote Biggie again and again, in like 5 posts now, but really, Biggie lyrics apply in every day life. I should start a Biggie Cult. Who wants to join?

Project Beyond the Runway
Edited by Fashion Pulse Daily
Reading through the links this week, I realized that fashion week or no fashion week, fashion will most certainly go on! A winter snowstorm couldn’t even slow down New York Fashion Week, and the links below are testament to the wonderful style that exists beyond the runway, such as Ode to Awe’s jewelry discovery, how to look chic while lounging by Cafe Fashionista, and tips for vintage shoe shopping by Wicked Whimsy. Don’t get me wrong, I love being ‘in the know’ on runway looks and trends, but how you interpret them and work them into your personal style is so much more important than remembering which designers showed one-shoulder looks this season!
As expected, there was a fabulous round-up of links in the forum as well, all worthy of your eyeballs!

A Touch of Frivolity
Edited by Retro Chick
It’s been a long time since pay day and this week’s Links à la Mode brings a touch of much needed frivolity as we crawl into the second month of a new decade. Idiosyncratic Style takes Scooby Doo’s Velma as her style inspiration, Dirty Hems is inspired by dolls houses and Ode to Awe shows off her leopard print nails. Want something for nothing? A few Goody Gumdrops has an Aspinall of London bag to giveaway and Retro Chick (that’s me!) has 2 Valentine goodie bags to giveaway worth over £100 each. We’ve also got some great designer interviews and some practical advice.
On a more sober note there’s some timely tips from Sway, Sway, Sway! on how you can continue to donate to Haiti without getting scammed, Shoe Daydreams discusses Tanya Golds “Why I hate Fashion” article and Ventures of Jenn shares her opinions on the body image debate.
Bring on February!

Super lovely blogger Walk The Sand has given me my very first blog award. Her blog is just fantastic so to receive this from her is even more special. I especially love her “closet alphabet” series which is quite unique, it offers a glimpse inside her closet and world based on the letters of the alphabet.

With this award, I must write 7 things I love to do:
1. go into laughing fits with friends
2. sleep under piles and piles of blankets
3. watch the campiest cult movies
4. daydream about lovely places that I will someday visit
5. go to Burlesque shows
6. experiment with raw food recipes
7. have a weekly crafts night with friends, that has and will ultimately turn into wino/drunken stories night
And now I pass the love onto 7 other bloggers:
1. she will dress herself
2. Passion Food
3. NTL
4. Eternal Masquerade
5. Rocker Repro
6.Kingdom of Style
7. Wendy Brandes

*Quite excited to be picked to be part of the weekly link round up by IFB. Check out some of these amazing fellow bloggers and the accompanying article:

This week, some of us looked back at icons of the past, such as // Fade to #c5c5c5’s Marchesa Luisa Casati, Fabulous Finds Gal ’s Horst photography post, and Cafe Fashionista’s take on Diana Vreeland’s famous quotes, while others looked at how far we’ve come, such as The Curvy Fashionista’s plus size fashion observations and A Dress & A Bike ’s thoughts on what it means to be sexy. Each post brought a unique angle to the subject at hand, and raised important topics of self-expression, style, adaptation, trends, individuality, and acceptance. It’s fascinating to examine our own fashion-related introspection, and think about how our inner selves, thoughts and feelings, are reflected through the clothing choices we make, the pairing of certain looks, and of course our writing and blogs.
As expected, there was a fabulous round-up of links in the forum as well, all worthy of your eyeballs!
