I’m moving again. If you’re a long time reader of my blog, you probably remember when I moved into my current apartment and posted incessantly about home items that I could not afford, and few that I could. Well, obviously that’s what I’m going to do now too. I decided that this time around I want to have a clear image going in of what I want my apartment to look like, and attempt to make it happen on my very, very limited budget. I like a lot of different styles, but I think I’ll feel at most myself and at home amongst a kind of glamorous 50′s boudoir, dark, Victorian decor. Think silver trays, velvet furniture, touches of leopard, heavy iron and glass, mirrors, crystal, etc. I don’t want it to be cheesy though, and with a limited budget, it can very well become cheesy. So, to start with, I’m going to rely on the accessories to make my place look beautiful, as a velvet couch is thousands, and even the chairs I posted above run almost $600 together. I’ve been scouring etsy and ebay for silver trays and that is more than promising, I have found some ranging from just a few dollars to twenty that are absolutely gorgeous, and the same goes for mirrored trays as well as vintage crystal perfume bottles. Next stop, thrift stores.
Know of a good thrift/vintage store online or in NYC? Let me know!
