Ode To: Harry Solomon

Growing up, my sister, brother and I were obsessed with 3rd Rock from the Sun. Many late nights, they would come home kind of drunk (I was in elementary school going on junior high, they were in college) , nuke some frozen pizza and we would sit down and watch a few episodes, somehow bonding despite our age differences. Although I loved every character, French Stewart’s portrayal of Harry Solomon was so spot on and ridiculous, you couldn’t help but kind of love him the most. What really got me though, was Harry Solomon’s amazingly 90′s wardrobe.

Seriously, he had the best 90′s style. There has been this so called “90′s revival” for a while now, but grunge wasn’t the only style going on in the 90′s.  Harry’s style really epitomized the real style of the 90′s, or at least that of the underground. It was a little grunge, a little club kid, a little skater, but mostly it was just fantastic. Maybe platform red sneakers don’t really translate into my current wardrobe, but I’m sure I can find a way to grab his essence and work with  it.

Hahaha I love this post, I too grew up watching this show with my siblings! I completely forgot about what the wardrobes were like and looking back I can totally appreciate Harry’s style. When I was a 90′s kid I wore plaid pants ALL the time! I still want to wear plaid pants but so far I haven’t being able to find what I’m looking for, maybe I will have to attempt to make a pair.

I know! I really wish I could steal that pin-up ladies shirt with the cowboy colour scheme.

I’d love to do one on Sally as well, she was like this masculine/feminine bombshell in this series.

touche! I really liked his character and never once thought to examine what he was wearing. It was such an assortment of patterns!
