While visiting Newport, Rhode Island a few weeks ago, I stumbled into this great little Peruvian store where I picked up this hat along with a handmade Peruvian flute, or maybe it’s a wind instrument, I’m still trying to figure that out. The hat is 100% leather and handmade, with these beautiful etchings all over it, and that amazing multi-colored stitched bird on the front. It’s very Indiana Jones, especially paired with my over-sized Ray Ban’s. Of course, it’s way too hot to wear right now, but I’m already planning Fall outfits around it. In the meantime, it looks amazing as wall art.
The owner was this very, very nice Native American lady. I’ve actually been to another one of these stores, very similar, in Manchester Village, in Vermont. It’s all Alpaca stuff from farms in Peru; sweaters, toys, etc. plus leather goods and instruments. Out of place-ish, but pretty cool
can’t wait to see you in it! p.s. peruvian handmade hats in rhode island? weeerrrd.
