I was recently contacted to check out a new NYC based company, Sock Theory. Of course, at first, I was hesitant to check out their site. I mean, if I didn’t like their stuff, I would have to state that, and confrontation like that makes me uncomfortable. Luckily, this was not the case. Sock Theory is all about cute socks and adorable stockings and pretty knee highs and cozy looking legwarmers. The company’s founder, Morgan, also happens to be the model you see on the site. I’m all about Female entrepreneurs and who doesn’t like pretty stockings and cute socks? Of Sock Theory, Morgan says:
“I developed the concept of leg wear being the centerpiece of an outfit, instead of just an accessory. I’ve been sock and tights obsessed for my whole life, so branching into this is a dream I’ve always had. When you are a life long New Yorker and walking Seventh Ave. every day, it’s impossible to not be fashion minded. City style fashion is something that inspires me.”
Being from New York myself, I find it important to support my local designers and businesses and especially new start ups. In a sea of huge department stores taking over Manhattan, it’s the little boutiques that keep the New York spirit alive. (That’s not to say I haven’t done my fair share of shopping at H&M and Century 21′s European section, but I definitely support my local stores as well).
