The last photo is from Natasha Khan’s, (aka Bat for Lashes) show at Webster Hall on August 12th. Although I did not take the above image (too busy dancing), I can assure you, it was as cool, technicolor, and wolf-howl filled as it looks.
Natasha’s recorded music is more singer-songwriter than dance or electronic. The show, on the other hand, was intensely different, focused on more electro heavy beats then her recorded stuff. Now, that is not to say that the music wasn’t brilliant, it’s actually absurd how amazing her voice is live. The crowd was absolutely mad for her, and I don’t think there was a single person in there standing still. It was one big party and she definitely delivered as hostess. And while I can go on and on about her brilliant lyrics, amazing live show and beautiful voice, let’s focus on the fact that her style is killer.
It was probably 1000 degrees in Webster Hall that night, and yet, Natasha came out in a long-sleeved pant catsuit, with hair fringe along the arms. I felt heat stroke-ish just looking at her! I am insanely jealous of how amazingly over the top and put together she always looks and yet, like she doesn’t try at all. It’s as though she wakes up in the morning, throws on whatever is lying around, and then looks like that. Seriously, what’s a girl to do?
