Ode To: Christy Turlington

I have always idolized my older sister; her style, her personality and her ability to wear red lipstick anytime, anywhere. Much of my taste today comes from her influence (my former Hello Kitty obsession definitely stemmed from her Keroppi one.) Growing up, I loved to sneak into her room and go through her magazines, try on her make-up and immerse myself in her cool teenage/20 something life (sorry if you’re reading this!) Her bedroom was uniquely her, filled with Smashing Pumpkins and Hole cd’s, completely green and Keroppi adorned and splashed with pictures of Christy Turlington everywhere. She was utterly obsessed with her. Every magazine cover, article, and appearance, was kept, cut out and watched. At that age I really didn’t get it, but it makes much more sense now. Christy was the epitome of the 90′s supermodel. She was absolutely beautiful, poised, oozed cool, and took fantastic pictures. And, unlike other supermodels from that time, she appears to have stayed beautiful and poised and rather un-crackhead like.
